Virtual 1:1
Holistic and evidence-based psychotherapy

This is your safe space to examine present challenges, gain new insights into your patterns, and learn new skills to work through life’s challenges.

Can you relate?

Do you find yourself grappling with difficulties in crucial aspects of life such as work, school, interpersonal relationships, and parenting? Despite recognizing the need for change, you feel unsure of where to begin.

Perhaps, you have tried therapy in the past only to be told to “just set better boundaries” or “just love yourself” and you walk away feeling responsible for your pain.

Are you often taking care of everyone around you while putting yourself last? Do you find that the thought of self-care is often accompanied with a side of guilt?

Have you always taken on the responsibility for your family's well-being and the thought of taking a step back is driven by a fear that things would fall apart without your intervention?

Do you question your sense of belonging and achievement despite your successes? Does the fear of “failing” limit you from taking risks and living authentically?

Have you convinced yourself that there is something wrong with you?

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. You can find healing from therapy.

a woman of color coping with life
  • Irritability, fatigue, a sense that you are going through the motions while having difficulty finding happiness is not your natural state. Also it’s not your fault! Many women have been carrying the weight of depression for so long they can’t recall a time when they didn’t feel this way. Depression is a treatable condition that responds well to many treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This treatment helps you to identify and restructure unhelpful thinking patterns, adopt activities that help you rediscover joy, and learn to cope with and plan for difficult emotions.

  • Anxiety can show up in your life in many states of fear and worry.

Many women cope with general feelings of unease that permeate their daily life, experience sleep disturbances, avoid decisions due to fear of failing, micro-manage in fear of loss of control.

It’s also a common emotional state that contributes to people-pleasing behavior.

Anxiety activates our body’s fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response and the body believes you are in constant danger, which can leave you feeling exhausted.

In therapy, we will work together to learn more about anxiety and the role it plays in your thinking, feelings, and behavior through the use of CBT. You’ll be supported with an effective holistic approach that relies on mindfulness, adoption of relaxation skills and exposure and response therapy (ERP), which will help you feel better prepared to manage future stressors.

  • Trauma is defined as the emotional response to a distressing, often frightening or stressful situation that is difficult to cope with or out of one’s control. Everyone responds to trauma differently.

For women of color, trauma is often magnified as they continuously navigate systems of racial and systemic oppression.

Furthermore, many women of color face intergenerational trauma- or trauma that has been inherited/passed down.

Trauma deeply impacts how we show up in our lives. Understanding how trauma has shaped your sense of self, others, and the world is essential to healing and makes space for new perspectives to rise.

  • Embarking on new journeys can feel exciting and anxiety-inducing all at once. Some changes are especially painful and difficult if they’re unexpected or undesired. But even the changes we’ve been waiting for makes us face the unknown and in the absence of certainty, we can tend to imagine the worst and experience self doubt.

Our therapy can help you to openly explore your fears, face them and learn to work through intense emotions. Our sessions will also teach you ways to practice self-compassion, reframe unhelpful thoughts and encourage an inner voice that’s uplifting and empowering. The combination of these strategies allow women to face some of their most vulnerable life changes in a way that allows for greater presence, balance, and confidence.

How we work

Individual therapy typically occurs with weekly 45-60 minute sessions.

ASSESSMENT PHASE

Through in-depth conversation, we’ll explore your current situation, identify what we’re working towards and plan a path for your recovery.

PROCESS & CHANGE

This is a collaborative process of healing - and you’re in the driver seat. I help navigate you to see what you can’t see on your own, and offer guidance in building new positive habits that align with your values.

I support you with holistic approaches based on mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (AC).

This phase is often referred to as the activation phase as you will begin implementing  and working on the strategies we develop in session.

CLOSURE

Together, we’ll take a step back and look at the changes and growth you’ve achieved over the course of our work. We will work on maintenance to ensure the self-knowledge and vital life skills you’ve gained will stay  with you for your lifetime.
